The Gurulu Raksha (Garuda Raksha/Bird Devil) is the portrait of a mythical solar bird devouring a snake. The snake that is located above the bird face is called Naga. Gurulu is decorated with the enemy snakes as if they were a trophy. According to Hindu and Buddhist mythology, it is said that this bird was a "vehicle" on which Hindu God Vishnu rode. People believe this Bird Devil (Gurulu Raksha) gives beauty, power and fame. This is 100% Handmade by talented Sri Lankan Craftmans using natural Diyakaduru Wood and traditional hand paintings. In the early days in Sri Lanka, this has been used to perform Raksha (Demon) Dance in Kolam Maduwa (a rural dancing floor).
